ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಆಲೋಚನೆ ಮತ್ತು ಭಾವನೆಗಳನ್ನು ರೂಪಿಸುವಲ್ಲಿ ತಾಯ್ನುಡಿ ನಿರ್ಣಾಯಕಪಾತ್ರ ವಹಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ತಾಯ್ನುಡಿಯು ಸುತ್ತಮುತ್ತಲಿನ ಗ್ರಹಿಕೆಯನ್ನು, ಪರಿಕಲ್ಪನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕಲಿಯಲು ಮತ್ತು ವಿವಿಧ ಕೌಶಲ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಸಾಧಿಸಲು ಅನುಕೂಲ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಡುತ್ತದೆ. ತನ್ನ ಜೀವನದ ಆರಂಭಿಕ ಹಂತದಿಂದಲೇ ತಾಯ್ನುಡಿಯನ್ನು ಕಲಿಯುವ ಮಗು, ತಮ್ಮನ್ನು ತಾವು ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಲು ಮತ್ತು ಅವರ ಆಲೋಚನಾ ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯವನ್ನು ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಪಡಿಸಲು ಸಹಾಯ ಮಾಡುವ ವ್ಯಾಪಕವಾದ ಭಾಷಾ ಕೌಶಲ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಸಂಗ್ರಹಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಹೆಚ್ಚುವರಿಯಾಗಿ, ಈ ಭಾಷೆ ಇತರ ವಿಷಯಗಳನ್ನು ಕಲಿಯುವಲ್ಲಿ ಮಗುವಿಗೆ ಆತ್ಮವಿಶ್ವಾಸ ಮತ್ತು ಸ್ವಮೌಲ್ಯದ ಪ್ರಜ್ಞೆಯನ್ನು ಬೆಳೆಸುತ್ತದೆ.

ವರ್ಜೀನಿಯಾದ ರಿಚ್ಮಂಡ್ ಹಾಗು ಸೆಂಟ್ರಲ್ ವರ್ಜೀನಿಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಇರುವ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಕನ್ನಡವನ್ನು ಕಲಿಸಲು ಕೆಲವು ರಿಚ್ಮಂಡಿನ ಕನ್ನಡ ಸ್ವಯಂಸೇವಕರ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನವೇ ಕನ್ನಡ ಕಲಿ. ಕನ್ನಡ ಕಲಿಯ ಸ್ವಯಂಸೇವಕರು ನಮ್ಮ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಯನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸಿ ಬೆಳೆಸುವ ನಿಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡವನ್ನು ಕಲಿಯಲು ಪ್ರೇರೇಪಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

​Learning one's mother tongue is crucial to a child’s development. Learning Kannada will help a child better understand their cultural surrounding and learn many other skills in the process. A child educated in Kannada from a young age will be able to express themselves better as well as hone their cognitive abilities. Additionally, Kannada builds the child’s self-esteem and sense of identity.

​Kannada volunteers from Richmond, VA, founded Richmond Kannada Kali to educate Kannada children in Richmond and Central Virginia. The Richmond Kannada Kali volunteers work to preserve and propagate our Kannada culture and values.
